I figured this would happen :(

I gave up on Slim in 6. I was so frustrated that, even though I would workout to the point of nausea, I was not losing weight and barely losing inches. So this past week (which is also a nasty PMS week..) I gave up caring about every little thing I put in my mouth and didn’t work out at all. I knew I would get to this point, because that’s my MO. I start out strong for a while and then I throw it all away.

What I didn’t plan on, however, was losing 2 lbs during my little hiatus . How did that happen? However it happened, I’m so grateful for it, because I would have spiraled down quickly if I had gained much. (I expected to gain 2-3 lbs.)

Does anyone have any ideas on why I wasn’t losing weight before? I was eating 1,000 - 1,200 cal/day and doing the Slim in 6 workouts for 63 min/day. I’d really like any input! I think that I’m going to go back to doing the Biggest Loser, Tae Bo, and Pilates workouts that I used after my other kids.

1200 calories is the very very minimum that you should be eating especially if you are working out one hour per day. If you work out too hard and don’t eat enough calories your body will hold onto it’s fat stores so it does not starve later. Also, I know motivation is difficult and I have terrible pms fatigue and cravings, but it looks like you have a beautiful baby, and I am sure that the baby is part of your motivation for taking charge of your health. I have a grid that I printed out with 50 slots on it, and everything I have an experience that makes me want to lose weight I add it. For example I want to wear reduce my risk for diabeties and get to where I can comfortable ride a bike again. Then when you are having trouble getting motivated think about all of those things that you want to do and head out to exercise or put down the cookie you have been eating. You can keep going just really think about your goals.

Yes, you were not losing weight because you were not eating enough. You ate around 1200 calories and burned off a few hundred calories - therefore you went under the 1200 min. your body requires to sustain daily life. Therefore, you need to eat about 1500 or more calories on days you exercise to lose weight.

    Great job losing 2 lbs!

When you work-out strenuously, you retain water at first, but after a few days, the loss shows up. This has happened to so many people at WW and they get upset , then in a week or two they find they have lost weight and are happy again. So, hang in there, and give it time. You never want to go under 1200 calories. It’s not safe and you start losing muscle tissue. I get tempted to starve a day or 2, then I don’t do it because it is not worth it. When I relate dieting to suffering, then I don’t do it as well. If it’s forming good habit, then I do pretty well. Losing 2 pounds is great!
